Statin Drug Lawsuits Among Women Soar in Past 5 Months
For quite some time, concern has been raised about increased incidence of Type 2 Diabetes in women taking cholesterol-lowering statin drugs (up to 13% higher risk). And now the FDA has recommended several changes to the labeling of statins, removing the recommendation on monitoring liver enzymes, and adding the monitoring of hemoglobin A1C levels. As a result lawsuits among women have soared from 56 suits to almost 1000 in a 5 month period.
