Women are Not Small Men. A recent IOM Report indicates that research reflecting sex and gender differences is improving, but still falls short. Even when research data is available, the findings are not broadly disseminated so that women continue to receive the same treatment as men even when the evidence suggests a different approach should be taken. We need to pursue efforts that assure the inclusion of sex and gender differences in all clinical research, whenever appropriate. And, we need to foster the integration of sex and gender information across medical education, training, and clinical practice.  In this way, we aim to identify and provide medical, nursing and pharmacy education content that can be easily and freely integrated into curricula, adapted for training and incorporated into clinical practice.
